MEET SAMUEL aka "TOMPHONICS" - From Teacher to a Financially Successful Entrepreneur
Hello Teachers, If you are seeing this, I salute your resilient spirit in taking up this job.
I never envisaged becoming a teacher. In fact, there was a time my father woke me in the middle of the night to confirm how an accountant decided to teach in a primary school.
I can't tell till this moment why I became a teacher. I decided not to test the waters anymore asking myself such question.
I believed in the phrase that says "when the reason of a thing isn't known, abuse is inevitable". I guess the day I get to know, I may lose the flame that has been burning in and through me.
Do I feel happy in this profession? YES.
Has there been a time I was frustrated? ABSOLUTELY!
I began my teaching career in 2007 as an assistant teacher in a preschool. Steadily progressed to become a classroom teacher, a senior teacher, deputy head teacher, and now I head a school as well as manage two other schools and consult for three.
By the time I clocked 9 years in my teaching career, I realized I was wasting my time just focusing on my physical environment alone. I ventured into training.
I started teaching my colleagues. What I did was, every Friday, I'd call them into the hall, set up the projector and then show them some tips and techniques I learnt within the week.
One of my major style for reading is teaching. So, it wasn't difficult for me to unleash.
Whilst doing this, I started gaining confidence, eye control, stage fright and all I needed to learn to grasp the public speaking skills.
I didn't stop there, I started writing on my Facebook, gathering audience that were also looking for a push.
Most teachers then were ashamed of their professions. So, I joined the other advocates in preaching the biggest benefits of teaching.
In my quest advocating the teaching profession, I needed to have evidence in order to show that this thing really works. I took my time in learning so many skills. Those skills have produced the following:
- Launching a popular podcast and YouTube channel sharing classroom management tips.
- Authoring over 10 books on Phonics.
- Giving paid speeches and workshops at teaching conferences worldwide.
- Creating online courses and digital products for teachers.
- Building an audience on social media, collaborating with education brands.
In this present age, I can tell you for free that I earn a healthy side income from these ventures, while still leading my school. I enjoy the freedom of working for myself while impacting thousands of students and teachers globally.
On this blog, I'll be sharing so many practical ways, insights, and strategies that enabled me to go from just a classroom teacher to financially successful entrepreneur. Stay tuned for practical tips on how you can monetize your classroom experience through consulting, content creation, products, and more!
If you're a teacher or an educator aspiring to build wealth, I trust my story will inspire you to turn your expertise into profitable side hustles. Through determination and smart planning, you can follow in my footsteps.
